Francis August Schaeffer (30 January 1912 – 15 May 1984)
Schaeffer was a Presbyterian pastor who founded L'Abri ("The Shelter") in Switzerland to train young scholars in Christian apologetics. His writings shaped a generation of Christian leaders and has had a profound effect on Christian philosophy.
Schaeffer became a Christian as a teenager, but he went through a period of spiritual doubt in 1950-1951. After examining Christianity carefully, he was equipped to help countless others grow in faith.
