The Local Church, known internally as the "Lord's Recovery," is considered a cult because its teachings about the Trinity are confusing. In the opinion of many orthodox theologians, their teaching is "modalism" - the belief that the One God appears in three different roles or modes, but that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are not three distinct persons.
